    Слушать передается на английский язык глаголами listen, hear и obey. Listen означает 'слушать – воспринимать слухом': to listen to a story, to listen to a teacher, to listen in 'слушать радио'. Listen употребляется также в значении 'послушать чьего-л. совета': to listen to somebody's advice. Hear имеет значение 'слушать – внимать' (певцу, пианисту и т. д.): to hear a famous singer, to hear Van Cliburn. Hear также означает 'прослушать курс лекций': to hear a course in English history. Hear может употребляться в значении 'публично разбирать какое-л. дело': to hear the case, to hear the evidence. Obey соответствует русскому 'слушать – повиноваться': to obey one's father.
